The recurring semi-annual conference of the international archival association ICARUS – International Centre for Archival Research, will finally be held in person again! Organised by the Institute for Research and History of Texts (both ICARUS and TMO member) in cooperation with the French National Archives and financially supported by the French Ministry of Culture, the international convention will commence on Monday, 23 May with a session dedicated to the EU-funded project “European Digital Treasures – Management of Centennial Archives in the 21st Century” where ICARUS is a project partner. The workshop will introduce business models and marketing ideas for archives as where identified and elaborated as part of the named project.

On Tuesday, 24 May, the main part of the conference will start with international contributions on the topic of “Archival Science: Concepts, Legal Status, Historical Development, Records Management“, running parallel with a session on “Monasterium” – one of ICARUS’ flagship projects – a portal and collaborative research platform for medieval and early modern charters, and a session on “Topotheque” – another ICARUS project – a citizen science platform gathering and presenting visual material from private collections.

The afternoon session will then focus more generally on “Cultural Heritage: Safeguarding a Fragile Source“, again hosting a variety of international speakers from within the ICARUS-network. The last session of the conference will then deal with “Archives and Mediation: Public Interest and Interaction with Public/Private Archives in Public/Private Institutions” to be topped off by a common dinner for all speakers and participants.

Wednesday, May 25, will have another set of presentations on the topic of “Archives and Mediation” followed by contributions touching base on “Document Analysis and Recognition“.
