Horizon 2020 – selected Calls and Deadlines

Our Project Scouting Team took the liberty of putting together a list of calls for project submissions within the framework of the EU Research and Innovation programme Horizon 2020 – highlighting a few calls of specific interest for our Time Machine Network:

Thematic Call:

SU-DRS01-2018-2019-2020

“Human factors, and social, societal, and organisational aspects for disaster-resilient societies”

Budget:  up to €5.000.000

Action Type: Research and Innovation Action (RIA)

Deadline: 27 August 2020 17:00:00 Brussels time

Notes:

Historical data and visualization regarding past disasters might be beneficial for any research consortium that needs to produce representations as to how past societies experienced disasters and how this information can provide proposed actions with evidential basis. In a twist, the negative impact of disasters in cultural heritage preservation can also be a subject of inquiry.

Content:

“Research is required with a view to how cultural changes among individuals, business managers, government officials, and communities can create a resilient society in Europe, in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

Research should contribute to the understanding of society’s awareness to risks in Europe in order to provide recommendations for the development of a culture of improved preparedness, adaptability, and resilience to risks, including the use of social media and crowd-sourced data, and the involvement of the citizens in the investigations and possible validation of tools and methods.”

Action Type: EuroHPC RIA

Deadline: 28 July 2020 17:00:00 Brussels time

Notes:
This call aims to address HPC developers in having a quantum simulator online. A quantum simulator is a set up that allows inquiries into what complex quantum systems can achieve hence complex simulation and optimization problems can be tested at the onset of high performance computing processes.

Content:

“The objective of the pilot action will be to develop, deploy and coordinate at European level a European quantum simulation (QS) infrastructure of circa 100+ interacting quantum units that shall be accessible via the cloud on a non-commercial basis to public and private European users.

The objective of opening up such early computing platforms (whether in the form of quantum simulators or first physical computing platforms) widely to European users is to help them familiarize with quantum technologies, test their capabilities/performances and develop their first quantum applications and algorithms. The aim is not only to train users in using quantum computing systems but, most importantly, to develop an early ecosystem of quantum programming facilities and application libraries.”

Thematic Call:
