A new online training course

3D Digitisation: Prepare for Success

As the Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage continues to grow, so does the need for accessible, high-quality training resources that support cultural institutions in navigating digital transformation. To help address this need, PHOTOCONSORTIUM, coordinator of the EUreka3D-XR project, has launched a new online course: 3D Digitisation: Prepare for Success.

Developed within the framework of the EUreka3D-XR project, the course is designed to support anyone embarking on a 3D digitisation journey. It is particularly aimed at cultural heritage professionals, including museums, public administrations, heritage sites, and other stakeholders, who are planning, or already implementing, 3D digitisation projects for their collections.

The training is based on the 3D Digitisation Guidelines, which draw on the EU VIGIE2020/654 study on quality in 3D digitisation of tangible cultural heritage. Through practical guidance, best practices, and expert insights, the course helps learners understand the key steps, challenges, and quality considerations involved in creating successful 3D digitisation projects.

The course is self-paced and accessible to everyone on the Europeana Training website, allowing participants to learn according to their own needs and experience level. Additional resources are provided throughout for those who wish to explore specific topics in greater depth.

This new training opportunity represents an important step in building capacity across Europe’s cultural heritage sector and supporting the effective use of 3D technologies in the digital realm.
