How can we make cultural heritage more sustainable, more accessible, and better protected using digital technologies? This is the core question driving the ARTEMIS project, a Horizon Europe-funded initiative aimed at revolutionizing the way we manage and preserve cultural heritage through Reactive Digital Twins.
What is ARTEMIS?
ARTEMIS (Advancing Reactivity Through Enhanced Modelling In Heritage Science) is developing next-generation digital replicas—Reactive Digital Twins—of cultural heritage assets. These dynamic, data-driven models can be regularly updated with real-time or new information, allowing for more accurate simulation of interventions, better risk assessment, and ongoing condition monitoring. Most importantly, they enable this without impacting the original sites or objects.
From ancient ruins and historic buildings to museum artifacts and archival collections, ARTEMIS seeks to empower professionals in the cultural heritage field with advanced tools that support decision-making, conservation, and public engagement.
To ensure the ARTEMIS platform truly meets the needs of the field, the project has launched a Europe-wide survey targeting professionals, researchers, and experts working in cultural heritage.
Who should participate?
If you are a conservator, curator, educator, architect, scientist, digital specialist, or cultural manager—this survey is for you.
Why participate?
Your insights will directly inform:
- The development of the ARTEMIS cloud infrastructure
- The design of digital services tailored to your workflows
- The creation of training opportunities and resources
- Strategies for better data practices, integration, and reuse
How does it work?
The survey is fully anonymous, takes just 10 minutes, and includes a tailored set of questions based on your professional role.
Why It Matters
Digital transformation in cultural heritage is not just about scanning objects or building digital exhibitions—it’s about empowering people. ARTEMIS places heritage professionals at the center of its innovation process. That’s why your participation in the survey is so important.
By helping us understand current digital practices, challenges, and gaps, you’re contributing to a future where cultural heritage is better preserved, understood, and shared—through ethical, sustainable, and collaborative technologies.
