Date: 3-5 May 2023
Submission deadline: 31 March 2023
Venue(s): Sittard and Maastricht
The already 30th issue of the semi-annual ICARUS conventions invites you to visit the South of the Netherlands, namely Sittard and Maastricht. Organized by our Time Machine members Archives De Domijnen/Euregional Historical Centre Sittard-Geleen, together with the Historical Centre Limburg and the Social Historical Centre for Limburg, the conference will focus on the topic of migration and how archives in (and outside) Europe deal with this theme in general and more individually with archival material regarding migration: are there separate collections? Is the material displayed and how? Are there collaborations with universities to scientifically research and evaluate the material? And with museums to present them?
The convention’s structure
In line with the general outline and focus of the past ICARUS conventions, the 30th issue will again act as a sharing place where professionals and user communities will have the possibility to present, discuss and share their ideas, visions and concrete projects, with the aim to prepare new partnerships, as well as
the planning and implementation of possible new projects. During the three days of the convention there will be the possibility to do presentations, workshops, discussions, ‘exchange-tables’ and ‘cooperation-tables’, etc.
Please feel warmly invited to send an e-mail to Peer Boselie (cc to Nina Vogels please!) if you wish to present something, do a lecture (20 minutes) or a workshop/exchange-table/cooperation-table (open discussions, round table, etc. from 60 to 90 minutes) about migration or any other interesting and possibly innovative subject (and indicate what date and/or time would fit best for you (without guarantee)).
The deadline for a suggestion is 31 March 2023
