How can digital technologies better support image professionals, picture agencies, photo archives and cultural heritage collections?
The CHERISH project, a support action running from June 2026 to August 2027, has launched a new survey to better understand the digital challenges, needs and opportunities facing the image community and cultural heritage image collections across Europe.
CHERISH is led by Photoconsortium, together with CEPIC, and aims to raise awareness of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) and encourage the adoption of its applications, developed within the ECHOES project.
Share your experience
As cultural heritage increasingly moves into digital environments, professionals and organisations working with images and photographic collections face a range of challenges — from digitisation and data management to interoperability, access, reuse and the adoption of new technologies.
The CHERISH survey seeks to gather insights from professionals and stakeholders working in these areas. The results will help identify existing challenges and needs and contribute to a better understanding of how European digital infrastructures and tools can support the sector.
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Responses will be managed as aggregated data, without disclosure of personal details or transfer to third parties, in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.
Participants can also indicate their interest in taking part in a follow-up one-to-one interview, providing an opportunity to explore their experiences and perspectives in greater depth.
Help shape the future of digital cultural heritage
The survey is particularly relevant for image professionals, picture agencies, photo archives, cultural heritage institutions, researchers and other experts working with cultural heritage imagery and digital collections.
The CHERISH team is also encouraging relevant networks and communities to share the survey and help ensure that a broad range of voices from across Europe is represented.
