The Landecker Digital Memory Lab at the University of Sussex has launched its 2026 Connective Holocaust Commemoration Design Sprints, inviting professionals from across disciplines and sectors to collaboratively develop prototype solutions for challenges in digital Holocaust memory.
These design sprints are five-day intensive programmes that bring together participants from:
- Holocaust-related heritage and education organisations
- Creative and tech industries
- Academic fields, including arts and humanities, social sciences, and computer science
The sprints will be held in three European locations in 2026:
- Novi Sad, Serbia (4–8 May) – Making Visible and Connecting Sites of Non-Commemoration
- Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, Germany (31 Aug–4 Sep) – Sustainable Approaches to Digital Holocaust Memory: Reusing, Remixing, and Recirculating Volumetric Testimony Recordings
- National Holocaust Museum, UK (7–11 Sep) – Interspatial: Globally Connecting Sites Through Poignant Memorial Dates
Each sprint will focus on co-designing prototype solutions that address real challenges in the preservation, interpretation, and innovation of Holocaust memory in the digital age. Participants are expected to commit to the full duration of the sprint they apply for.
What’s covered?
