Call for Participation

Contribute to “Robotics and Physical Artificial Intelligence for Cultural Heritage”

We are pleased to share a new call for participation for researchers working at the intersection of cultural heritage, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

The journal npj Heritage Science has launched a dedicated collection entitled “Robotics and Physical Artificial Intelligence for Cultural Heritage”, inviting submissions of original research articles that advance both cultural heritage and robotics-related fields.

The collection seeks contributions that explore new techniques, methodologies, and future directions for addressing challenges related to the preservation, understanding, restoration, and management of cultural heritage. Topics may include robotic systems for documentation and conservation, AI-driven physical interaction with heritage objects, autonomous inspection and monitoring, digital-physical workflows, and other innovative approaches combining robotics and heritage science.

This initiative reflects the growing importance of interdisciplinary research that connects cultural heritage expertise with advances in robotics, computer vision, machine learning, sensing technologies, and embodied AI.

The submission deadline for the collection is 31 March 2027, and the call is currently open.

As the cultural heritage sector increasingly engages with intelligent and autonomous technologies, this collection offers an important opportunity for researchers and practitioners to contribute to shaping the future of robotics and physical AI in heritage contexts.

We encourage members of the TMO community and the wider digital heritage network to explore the call and consider submitting their work.
