Help shaping the future of AI Strategy

European Commission Opens Call for Evidence on AI Strategy for the Cultural and Creative Sectors

How should AI shape the future of Europe’s cultural and creative sectors? The European Commission is inviting stakeholders to help answer that question.

The European Commission has launched a Call for Evidence on its forthcoming AI Strategy for the Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS), inviting artists, cultural organisations, researchers, technology providers, policymakers and other interested stakeholders to share their views. The consultation is open until 11 September 2026.

The initiative aims to explore how AI can support innovation across Europe’s cultural and creative sectors while ensuring that human creativity remains at the centre. Key considerations include access to culture and knowledge, cultural and linguistic diversity, fairness, sustainability, competitiveness and the responsible use of AI.

For the digital cultural heritage community, this is an important opportunity to contribute to the discussion around how AI can support the creation, preservation, interpretation and accessibility of cultural heritage. The strategy is one of the flagship actions announced under the Culture Compass for Europe and will also connect with the EU’s wider Apply AI strategy and ongoing work on copyright. The Commission plans to present the AI strategy for the cultural and creative sectors in Q1 2027.

Have your say

The Call for Evidence is open to anyone interested in the future of culture and creativity in the age of AI, with contributions accepted in all EU languages.

For us this consultation is particularly relevant as Europe considers how emerging technologies can be developed and adopted in ways that strengthen cultural heritage, creativity and public access while respecting the values at the heart of Europe’s cultural ecosystem.
