The 53rd International Congress of the History of Technology (ICOHTEC) will take place from 8–11 October 2026 in Alexandroupolis, Greece, hosted by the Democritus University of Thrace in collaboration with the Ethnological Museum of Thrace.
Under the theme “Engaging the History of Technology”, the conference invites scholars to explore how the history of technology connects with evolving methodologies, interdisciplinary research, education, museums, and public engagement. Contributions are welcome across local, regional, and global perspectives, as well as intersections with social, cultural, environmental, political, economic, and medical history.
A special focus will highlight museums, material and intangible cultural heritage, and innovative formats that bridge academic research with public history practice.
The conference strongly encourages submissions from graduate students and early career researchers, offering mentorship opportunities, book development workshops, and visual lightning talks.
