Session Title: Sculpting Digital Skills – 3D-4CH Capacity Building for Heritage Professionals
We are pleased to announce that the 3D-4CH project – the Online Competence Centre in 3D for Cultural Heritage – will be represented at the Europeana Conference 2025 through a dedicated workshop focused on 3D capacity building for professionals in the cultural heritage sector.
Workshop Overview
As the digital transformation of the cultural heritage sector accelerates, the development of specialised 3D skills becomes increasingly essential. This workshop, led by Marco Medici, will address the pressing need to equip heritage professionals with competencies in 3D digitisation, digital curation, and data management.
Organised within the framework of the 3D-4CH project, the session aims to support institutions in building robust and future-proof digital heritage infrastructures through accessible training, adherence to international standards, and the promotion of sustainable practices.
Key Themes
Capacity Building in Practice
The workshop will present the 3D-4CH training portfolio, which includes practical workshops, structured courses, and certification opportunities, all designed to meet the evolving needs of the cultural heritage workforce.
Standards and Sustainability
Participants will gain insight into recognised best practices, internationally aligned standards, and sustainable workflows that enable high-quality, long-term preservation and reuse of 3D digital heritage assets.
Community and Collaboration
The session will foster exchange among professionals, highlight real-world examples from the field, and encourage cross-sectoral collaboration to strengthen the 3D cultural heritage community.
Target Audience
This workshop is intended for:
- Professionals from museums, archives, and libraries
- Digital curators and technologists
- Stakeholders interested in adopting or expanding 3D methodologies within their institutions
Whether you are just beginning to explore 3D tools or are already applying them in your work, this session offers valuable insights and the opportunity to contribute to the development of inclusive, practice-oriented training approaches for the cultural heritage sector.
Why This Matters
The effective digitisation and preservation of cultural heritage through 3D technologies requires not only advanced tools but also a well-trained and connected professional community. This workshop contributes to the broader Europeana initiative’s mission to build sustainable, interoperable, and accessible digital heritage ecosystems across Europe.
We warmly invite you to attend the session and join us in shaping the future of 3D skills in cultural heritage.
