The FAIR 3D HERITAGE Conference will take place in Mainz, Germany, from 14 to 16 September 2026. The conference invites researchers, practitioners, and professionals working at the intersection of cultural heritage and digital technologies to contribute to an important discussion on the future of 3D heritage.
As 3D digitisation becomes increasingly central to cultural heritage research, documentation, and dissemination, new challenges are emerging. How can we ensure that 3D data is FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable)? What infrastructures are needed for sustainable viewer environments? How can documentation standards and long-term preservation strategies keep pace with technological innovation?
The FAIR 3D HERITAGE Conference addresses these questions by focusing on key challenges in the 3D heritage landscape, including:
- Viewer infrastructures
- Documentation standards
- Long-term preservation
- Cross-cutting approaches that connect technical, institutional, and conceptual perspectives
Interdisciplinary contributions that bridge these themes are especially welcome.
