Help Shape the Future of Cultural Heritage Digitisation

The UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage at Cyprus University of Technology, in collaboration with Heritage Malta, the Memory Twin Alliance, and the EU-funded HERITALISE project, invites cultural heritage professionals, researchers, and policymakers to contribute to an important new survey shaping the future of heritage digitisation in Europe and beyond.

Building upon the foundations laid by the European Commission-funded VIGIE2020/654 study and informed by the current HERITALISE Horizon Europe project, this survey explores the emerging concept of the Memory Twin—an evolution of the digital twin that integrates 3D data with metadata, paradata, and interpretative content within broader institutional strategies.

The goal is to assess the readiness of cultural heritage institutions, identify barriers and opportunities in the field, and inform future policy and capacity-building initiatives for cross-sector collaboration.

The survey is open until 31 May 2025 and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Contributions from curators, technologists, researchers, and decision-makers are especially welcome and will directly support the development of next-generation standards and practices in digital cultural heritage.
