‘Amsterdam in …‘ shows what publicly available linked datasets can be queried for both place (Amsterdam) and time (any year). Bringing together information on politics (mayors and council governing the city), geography (streets and their age, buildings built or demolished around that time, depictions of the cityscape) and the cultural landscape (movietheaters, most popular movies, plays performed in the city theater, books published, exhibitions held, artist working in Amsterdam) the application provides an overview of the city in a specific year.
In this project, all mayors and members of the city council – and their terms of office – from 1578 onward were added to Wikidata.
