LOKSTAT aims to centralize, digitize and link the millions of statistical data that was regularly gathered by government(s) on the Belgian territory since the French Revolution. Included among other data are censuses of population, agriculture, trade and industry that took place in Belgium in the period 1800-1970. LOKSTAT also integrates various other statistical sources at the level of the municipalities (demographic change, infrastructure, election results, church attendance,…). LOKSTAT is led by the Quetelet Center at Ghent University (BE), but some specific subcollections in the database were contributed by other partners.
