The project “Paysages du Val de Bagnes” is part of the Verbier Time Machine, which follows the vision of the Valais-Wallis Time Machine. The aim is to reconstruct the history of an Alpine valley, in particular its landscape history. The result should enable a journey through time of the natural and exploited territory of the Val de Bagnes. The tool will be used for both scientific exploitation and educational and tourist purposes.

The project’s matrix is built on three partially established bases: the directory of toponyms, the inventory of mountain pasture buildings, and the inventory of historical paths. At each stage of the work, the Verbier region will be taken as a test area before applying the processes to the whole of the Val de Bagnes. The project is piloted by the cultural service of the Commune of Bagnes.
