European Heritage Masterclass with Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger, a new 12-part video series developed by Europa Nostra was recently launched as part of the Europa Nostra Heritage Agora project, co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe Programme.
The Masterclass offers a thought-provoking exploration of cultural heritage as a living force in society. Across twelve concise lessons, Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger examines how heritage contributes to democracy, peace, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable development while addressing some of today’s most pressing challenges, including climate change, digital transformation, conflict, governance, and European cooperation.
Drawing on decades of experience as an archaeologist, historian, museum leader, and cultural heritage expert, Prof. Dr. Parzinger provides valuable insights into the role of heritage in contemporary society and its importance for future generations.
The series is aimed at heritage professionals, researchers, students, volunteers, policymakers, and anyone interested in understanding how cultural heritage can inspire practical action and strengthen European cooperation.
For our community, the Masterclass offers an excellent opportunity to reflect on the societal value of cultural heritage alongside the technological advances driving the sector forward. As digital technologies continue to transform how we document, preserve, and experience our shared past, initiatives such as this remind us that innovation must remain closely connected to the cultural, historical, and human values that heritage represents.
The European Heritage Masterclass consists of 12 freely accessible video lessons, each focusing on a different aspect of heritage in society, from identity and ethics to digital transformation and international collaboration.
We encourage our community to explore this valuable educational resource and join the conversation on the future of Europe’s cultural heritage.
