We’re thrilled to announce that the official programme for our first 3D-4CH Winter School, taking place next year in Brussels, is now live! This exciting three-day event brings together colleagues from across Europe to explore the world of 3D in cultural heritage, combining inspiring lectures, hands-on workshops, and collaborative sessions to advance our Online Competence Center.
Day 1 – Wednesday, 21 January | Hybrid Session
The Winter School kicks off with an institutional welcome from KMKG and the European Commission, setting the stage for a programme full of exchange and learning. Morning keynotes will highlight the latest in 3D technologies, opportunities, and challenges in the cultural heritage sector. Participants will also get an EU project showcase, featuring initiatives such as Digital Europe’s Data Space and TwinIt!, 3D-4CH, XRculture, 3DBigDataSpace, and Horizon Europe projects like ARTEMIS, Stratigraph, and Textailes.
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to introducing 3D projects in institutions, with sessions on best practices, project planning, storage, web viewers, and practical insights from projects like TwinIt!, Arctur, Talent 2.0, Zenodo Toolbox, and XRculture Protocol.
Day 2 – Thursday, 22 January | Hands-on Workshop
Day two is all about practical learning. Participants will dive into the full digitisation workflow, covering storytelling, XR, and 3D capture techniques. Groups will work on hands-on exercises, gaining direct experience with digitisation tools and workflows. The day includes a visit to the Plaster Cast Workshop, giving participants a unique opportunity to combine heritage knowledge with technical expertise.
Day 3 – Friday, 23 January | Hands-on Workshop & Wrap-up
The Winter School concludes with a half-day focused on applied learning, visualisation, storage, and licensing. Participants will present their work, reflect on key takeaways, and explore how to integrate 3D into cultural heritage projects back at their institutions.
Join us in Brussels for three days of learning, collaboration and inspiration, building skills, connections, and expertise that will drive the future of 3D in cultural heritage across Europe.
