Proposed by Circolo Girolamo Frescobaldi amici della musica di Ferrara

Circolo Amici della Musica “Girolamo Frescobaldi” APS is an Italian non-profit cultural organisation since 1972,operating at the intersection of artistic practice, education, and research on cultural heritage and creative processes. The association focuses on classical instrumental and vocal music as a field of inquiry, exploring live performance as a research-based methodology for the transmission, reinterpretation, and sustainability of intangible cultural heritage. The organisation develops practice-led and participatory projects that integrate artistic production, training activities, and knowledge exchange among artists, educators, students, and local communities. Its work investigates how embodied musical practices, performance contexts, and pedagogical processes contribute to cultural continuity, innovation in the cultural and creative industries, and social inclusion. Circolo Amici della Musica “Girolamo Frescobaldi” APS has experience in publicly funded projects and collaborative cultural initiatives, and is increasingly engaged in international and interdisciplinary cooperation. The association aims to contribute to European research and policy-driven projects by providing practice-based evidence, experimental frameworks, and transferable models that support cultural policy development, creative ecosystems, and global cultural cooperation.

Description

SOUNDING TIME proposes the creation of international creative alliances to explore how classical instrumental and vocal music can operate as living cultural heritage, a driver of innovation in the cultural and creative industries (CCI), and a tool for international cultural relations. The project adopts live performance as a core research and innovation methodology, enabling the embodied transmission of musical knowledge, practices, and techniques across generations, territories, and cultural contexts. By combining instrumental and vocal classical traditions, SOUNDING TIME highlights the role of performance as a space for co-creation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building among artists, cultural organisations, educators, and policy actors. Through transnational collaborations between European and partner world regions, the project will develop shared frameworks for creative cooperation, addressing challenges such as unequal access to global cultural markets, sustainability of classical music practices, and generational transmission of intangible heritage. The project will integrate artistic production, participatory training activities, and policy-oriented dialogue to generate evidence-based insights and replicable collaboration models. SOUNDING TIME will deliver actionable strategies and policy recommendations for policymakers, cultural institutions, and creative industry stakeholders, reinforcing cultural ties, supporting creative ecosystems, and contributing to Global Europe objectives by positioning classical music as a living, inclusive, and innovative cultural resource.
