Time Machine and genealogical research

ICARUS4all online forum: How can Time Machine support genealogical research?

Date: 18 March 2022
Venue: Online (Zoom)
Language: German

The Computer Genealogy Society CompGen and the ICARUS Friends Association ICARUS4all organise an open online discussion forum on the topic of “Time Machine – How can the Big Data of the Past help get a Feel for our Ancestors?”.

Topic of interest

Genealogical research may start off with a name and browsing through church register books, but a ‘simple’ family tree is only the beginning of the occupation with our ancestors and getting to know who they were. There is a lot more data out there, helping us understand more about the life of our forefathers – address books, notarial deeds, land registers, old photographs etc.

A way to interlink and access this diverse data is the core agenda of Time Machine and shall be discussed within this open forum together with Time Machine Organisation Secretary and Project Scouting lead strategist Sander Münster and Horst Reinhardt from the CompGen branch in Cologne. Both scientists coordinate Local Time Machine projects: “Altes Köln/Old Cologne” and several initiatives in and around the city of Jena, such as “Jena4D” and others.

Participation in the forum is open to all and free of charge – the Zoom credentials are as follows:
